Curtain wall panel interface records for AI review

A panel can appear in the correct elevation while a photograph actually shows a neighboring interface.

A panel can appear in the correct elevation while a photograph actually shows a neighboring interface. Census includes curtain wall installation in this trade category. NIST’s as-built modeling research describes linking observations to models. A contractor can use generic training panels and a fictional elevation for a localized matching task. Draw two similar panel positions and attach practice labels to loose props. Show one verified edge relationship and an image from the other position with a missing orientation mark. Ask which evidence confirms the documented interface and what view is missing. Keep visual attribution separate from acceptance or engineering.

Use no façade drawings, structural details, active sites, real component schedules or workers. Have a qualified reviewer check the fictional labels.

Describe a façade evidence exercise

Original Fiund exercise

A panel label alone does not identify the photographed edge

A paper elevation names practice panels P1 and P2. Lightweight tabletop props demonstrate view matching without a real façade or construction detail.

Fictional records supplied to the evaluator
RecordSourceWhat it records
CW1Fictional elevationInterface I-1 is P1's right edge beside P2's left edge.
CW2Reviewed prop imageP1 label and right-edge marker visible; adjacent P2 label visible. Reviewer assigns image to I-1.
CW3Unreviewed close-upP2 label visible; edge orientation cropped. Caption calls it I-1 but no orientation check is recorded.

Question for the model

Which image supports the documented I-1 relationship, and what remains unresolved in the close-up?

Show the reference answer and checks

CW1 defines I-1 by both panel identity and edge orientation. CW2 shows those markers and a matching review, so it supports the stated relationship. CW3 identifies P2 but does not show which edge is pictured. Its caption alone cannot establish the I-1 interface. Request an orientation-linked view rather than inferring a hidden relationship from proximity or appearance.

  • Treating any P2 photograph as evidence of P2's left edge.
  • Using a caption to establish an interface when the required orientation marker is absent.

Fields to preserve

Panel and edge identifier
Makes the relationship more specific than a component name.
Elevation-to-image assignment
Records which observation supports which fictional interface.
Orientation visibility
Preserves an unresolved view instead of filling it by assumption.

Test another case

Rotate the same prop and supply a left-edge marker while retaining the old caption. Score whether the answer notices the conflicting orientation.

Use generic loose props and independent drawings. Include no structural details, actual component schedules, building elevations, workers or live-site footage.

Discuss a contribution

Describe the sources you control, the task they could support and what has already been checked. Use the existing-data assessment for an archive or the collection brief for a new recording project. The contributor agreement defines Fiund’s licensing authority and compensation. A guide or fictional exercise does not establish an accepted collection or a sale.
