When a record is disputed, software needs to keep the challenged field, source and correction straight. The CFPB describes how a credit reporting company investigates and passes relevant information to the company that supplied the disputed information. This context supports a fictional evidence-tracing exercise. CFPB credit report dispute guidance

Build a synthetic report with two disputed fields. Provide a dated furnisher response resolving one field and an acknowledgment without a resolution for the other. Ask the model to map each response to its field, preserve the remaining dispute and cite the source version behind any correction. Keep the original and corrected reports separate.

Use invented persons, companies and amounts. Exclude consumer reports, social security numbers and production records. Design the output around provenance and evidence status. Leave scoring, eligibility and credit recommendations out.

Describe a synthetic credit correction exercise

Original Fiund exercise

A field-specific resolution does not close every dispute on a report

A synthetic report uses invented persons, companies and nonfinancial abstract field labels. It contains no consumer report, valid identifier or credit recommendation.

Fictional records supplied to the evaluator
RecordSourceWhat it records
CRD1Report R1 and disputesFictional subject A: field F1=X, F2=Y. Separate dispute D1 targets F1; D2 targets F2.
CRD2Furnisher responseResponse S1 explicitly resolves D1/F1 by replacing X with Z. Corrected report R2 cites S1 for F1; F2 unchanged.
CRD3Other acknowledgmentD2 receipt acknowledged with no investigation outcome or correction. No statement closing D2 supplied.

Question for the model

Which field has a documented correction, what remains disputed, and can R2's issuance be treated as resolution of both items?

Show the reference answer and checks

CRD2 links S1 to D1/F1 and replaces X with Z in R2, preserving CRD1's original value as history. CRD3 acknowledges D2 but supplies no resolution for F2, which remains disputed within the fixture. Issuing R2 with one corrected field does not close every dispute on the report. Cite each response's exact target and preserve unresolved status without evaluating creditworthiness, eligibility or the truth of any real report.

  • Applying one furnisher response to unrelated disputed fields.
  • Treating acknowledgment or a new report version as completion of every investigation.

Fields to preserve

Defines the scope.
Response target and replacement value
Supports the correction.
Original version and unresolved dispute
Preserves evidence history.

Test another case

Add a D2 resolution for another subject key. Require the identity mismatch to remain instead of closing A's dispute.

Use wholly invented records and unassigned identifiers. Exclude production data and scoring, eligibility or credit decisions.

Discuss a contribution

Describe the sources you control, the task they could support and what has already been checked. Use the existing-data assessment for an archive or the collection brief for a new recording project. The contributor agreement defines Fiund’s licensing authority and compensation. A guide or fictional exercise does not establish an accepted collection or a sale.
