Car wash cycle and water measurement records for AI
A wash operator can test whether software understands the difference between fresh intake, reclaimed flow and a combined reading.
NAICS 811192 · Car Washes
A wash operator can test whether software understands the difference between fresh intake, reclaimed flow and a combined reading. EPA’s WaterSense at Work guide discusses vehicle wash types, water use and reclamation. The data task can help a model summarize what each meter reading actually covers. EPA WaterSense vehicle wash guide
On a closed training run or in original simulated logs, assign three timestamps to cycle start, finish and meter read. Label which meter each value comes from. Give reviewers a case where two overlapping cycles share a reading so it cannot support per-vehicle use. Record what can be calculated and what remains unknown.
Use noncustomer footage or time-bounded exports approved by the operator. Exclude plates, access details and payment records. Keep people clear of operating equipment.
Describe a wash measurement sample
Original Fiund exercise
Fresh intake and reclaimed circulation do not describe the same quantity
Simulated cumulative meter logs describe two overlapping practice cycles. No operating wash, customer vehicle or actual water-use claim is involved.
| Record | Source | What it records |
|---|---|---|
| CWV1 | Cycle timing | C1 runs seconds 0–10; C2 runs 5–12. No cycle-isolated readings supplied. |
| CWV2 | Fresh-intake meter F | At second 0: 100 practice volume units; at second 12: 109. Meter covers both cycles' shared window. |
| CWV3 | Reclaimed-flow meter R | At second 0: 200; at second 12: 206. Definition says circulating reclaimed flow, not additional fresh intake. |
Question for the model
What fresh-intake difference is documented, and can the two meter differences establish 15 units of fresh consumption or an exact C1 quantity?
Show the reference answer and checks
CWV2 documents a fresh-intake difference of 109−100=9 units over seconds 0–12. CWV3 separately documents six units of reclaimed circulation, not six additional units of fresh intake. Their sum is therefore not a fresh-consumption measure. Because CWV1's cycles overlap within the shared meter window, the packet also does not allocate an exact fresh quantity to C1 or C2 individually.
- Adding circulating reclaimed flow to fresh intake and labeling the result fresh consumption.
- Assigning a shared-window reading to one overlapping cycle or splitting it equally without allocation evidence.
Fields to preserve
- Meter identity and quantity definition
- Separates fresh intake from circulating flow.
- Read timestamps and cumulative values
- Makes the differences reproducible.
- Cycle boundaries and overlap
- Shows why per-cycle allocation remains unresolved.
Test another case
Provide a separate fresh meter for C1 only with synchronized start/end readings. Require its result to remain distinct from the original shared-window total.
Use original simulated logs or an approved closed training setup. Exclude plates, customers, payments, access details and people near operating equipment.
