Biotechnology sample batch and assay evidence for AI
A readout can be linked to the right sample while the batch’s control remains unresolved.

A readout can be linked to the right sample while the batch’s control remains unresolved. NIH publishes rigor and reproducibility guidance, and NCBI’s GEO documentation gives examples of structured sample metadata. A team can design an original test for sample and control attribution without exposing real biological data. NIH rigor and reproducibility guidance · NCBI GEO metadata guide
Create dummy sample identifiers and abstract measurement values. Attach a control flag and an amended batch assignment to only one set. Ask which results can be attributed and which remain for review. Score lineage independently from interpreting the values.
Use invented data with no real sequences, participants, clinical materials, experimental procedures or confidential research. Document permissions for original files and keep scientific release with the research team.
Describe a fictional assay evidence sample
Original Fiund exercise
A corrected batch assignment does not resolve an unrelated control flag
Wholly invented sample aliases and abstract values test data lineage. There are no sequences, participants, biological materials, experimental procedures or scientific interpretation.
| Record | Source | What it records |
|---|---|---|
| BA1 | Dummy readout table | Sample S1 value 4 units; S2 value 7. Initial file associates both with batch B1. |
| BA2 | Authorized lineage amendment | S2 belongs to B2, replacing its B1 assignment. Values unchanged. |
| BA3 | Control register | B1 control reviewed; B2 control flag unresolved. No record transfers B1's control review to B2. |
Question for the model
Which batch and control-review state accompany each readout, and does the identity correction validate S2's scientific result?
Show the reference answer and checks
BA1–BA3 attach S1's value 4 to B1 with a reviewed control record, and S2's unchanged value 7 to corrected batch B2 with its unresolved control flag. BA2 fixes lineage, not the control status or interpretation of the value. Report those dimensions independently rather than treating a corrected sample association as validation of a scientific result or borrowing B1's review for B2.
- Carrying the original batch's reviewed-control status through a reassignment to another batch.
- Treating an administrative identity correction as a new measurement or scientific validation.
Fields to preserve
- Sample and readout identity
- Preserves the observation being attributed.
- Amended batch relation
- Makes the corrected lineage explicit.
- Batch-specific control flag
- Keeps validation state attached to the correct scope.
Test another case
Resolve B2's control flag but add an unverified method field for S2. Require the model to update control status without inventing missing method metadata.
Use invented data only. Exclude sequences, people, clinical material, procedures and confidential research; actual scientific release stays with the research team.
Discuss a contribution
Describe the sources you control, the task they could support and what has already been checked. Use the existing-data assessment for an archive or the collection brief for a new recording project. The contributor agreement defines Fiund’s licensing authority and compensation. A guide or fictional exercise does not establish an accepted collection or a sale.
