Takedown and clawback
Contract terms requiring a licensee to stop using and delete data in defined situations, such as a rights dispute or withdrawn consent. Because removing data from an already-trained model is difficult, clean rights at the outset matter more.
Triggers include rights challenges, withdrawn consent, privacy requests, and termination for breach. Obligations usually cover stopping use, deleting copies, and certifying deletion; whether an already-trained model must be retrained or withdrawn is the contested frontier, and machine unlearning remains an open research problem. That asymmetry is why clean rights at the outset beat remedies afterwards.
Why it matters
Clear consent and clean rights up front are cheaper than any takedown after training.
