Rights-cleared

Data for which the owner has granted, in writing, the right to use it for AI training, with separate voice/likeness consent where people are identifiable.

Clearance has two layers: copyright in the material, and the personal rights of identifiable people in it — voice, likeness, and privacy. It is checked item by item, because a dataset is only as cleared as its weakest file. The standard buyers look for is a written grant that names AI training explicitly rather than generic reuse language.

Why it matters

Rights-cleared status is a buyer’s main protection against infringement and privacy claims tied to training data.
