Release form
A signed document in which a participant grants defined rights in their recorded voice, image, or performance. For AI training, a release should name training and synthesis uses explicitly rather than rely on broad boilerplate.
A training-grade release names the participant, describes the recordings covered, grants specific uses — model training, voice synthesis, evaluation — and states whether the grant can be revoked. Broadcast-era boilerplate (“in any media now known or hereafter devised”) was not drafted with cloning in mind, and its reach is untested. Fresh, specific releases beat arguing about old language.
Why it matters
Releases are the documents a buyer’s counsel asks to see for every identifiable speaker.
