Egocentric video
First-person video captured from a wearable or head-mounted camera, showing a task from the doer’s viewpoint; valuable for robotics and world models.
The camera moves with the wearer’s head or chest, capturing hands, tools, and gaze the way the person doing the task sees them. Research corpora such as Ego4D established the category, but long, continuous first-person recordings of real work remain scarce outside research collections. Robotics and world-model teams source them because third-person footage misses the actor’s viewpoint.
Why it matters
First-person footage shot for other reasons — trades, sports, cooking — is exactly the perspective robotics teams struggle to find.
