What it is worth

How AI data licensing payouts are actually structured

A percentage, a flat fee and a recoupable advance describe different payment mechanics. Read the definition of revenue, allocation, deductions and payment trigger before comparing them.

The short version

  1. LANDR publishes a pooled share of net licensing revenue.
  2. Shutterstock describes an average corporate royalty rate with proportionate allocation.
  3. Fiund’s contributor share and payment terms are defined in its contributor agreement, not by these other programs.

Ask what starts a payment

A signed agreement, received buyer funds and accepted delivery are different events. The contract should identify which event triggers payment and which costs may be deducted.

Understand an advance

An advance can be applied against later earnings. LANDR’s terms make the offer promotion-specific and describe participation and early-exit conditions. It is not an extra payment on top of the same earnings.

Limits to the comparison

A larger percentage need not produce more money if the revenue base, deductions or allocation differ. None of these examples predicts how often your material will be licensed.
