A library can have one file cleared for a particular purpose and another excluded because of visible marks or an incomplete release.

A library can have one file cleared for a particular purpose and another excluded because of visible marks or an incomplete release. Census lists stock footage libraries in the broader film services group. Troveo’s media intake illustrates a relevant commercial route. Census Information industries · Troveo

Prepare three original practice clips or dummy asset cards. Mark source file, trimmed range, allowed use and the reason for any hold. Add a second export with a frame that was removed for a rights reason. Ask the reviewer to locate the hold and identify which version can be discussed. Use one distinct ID per asset and version.

Keep unsigned releases, private stock agreements, confidential shoots and third-party recordings outside the packet. Confirm who can authorize distribution, training, evaluation and any downstream use.

Original Fiund exercise

A later export can reintroduce the frame that caused a rights hold

Three dummy stock assets have original source and trim records. An invented visible mark tests version-specific review without publishing actual third-party footage.

Fictional records supplied to the evaluator
RecordSourceWhat it records
SF1Clip A reviewRAW-A frames 0–99; frames 40–49 contain an excluded dummy mark for use U. Approved A-clean export includes 0–39 only.
SF2New export A-longRe-export includes frames 0–59 from RAW-A. No review clears the previously excluded mark.
SF3Other asset cardsClip B has performer permission pending. Clip C has independent U approval for its own stated range.

Question for the model

Which A version has a supported reviewed range, and can A-long inherit the clean export's approval or Clip C's independent status?

Show the reference answer and checks

SF1 supports the reviewed A-clean range 0–39. SF2's A-long reintroduces excluded frames 40–49, so it cannot inherit approval merely from sharing RAW-A or a similar title. SF3's C approval applies to C alone, while B remains pending. Preserve the specific hold reason and source range through re-exports rather than assigning one blanket approval to every version in the library.

  • Carrying a clean trim's status to a longer export that restores held content.
  • Using an unrelated approved clip to clear a pending or excluded asset.

Fields to preserve

Asset and export version
Separates similar derivatives.
Source range and hold interval
Locates the content causing the review exception.
Hold reason and reviewer decision
Preserves why a version is discussable or unresolved.

Test another case

Create a shorter export that excludes the marked frames but lacks a source map. Require provenance evidence before assuming it matches the reviewed trim.

Use original dummy cards and owned practice clips. Exclude unsigned real releases, confidential shoots, stock contracts and third-party recordings.

Discuss a contribution

Describe the sources you control, the task they could support and what has already been checked. Use the existing-data assessment for an archive or the collection brief for a new recording project. The contributor agreement defines Fiund’s licensing authority and compensation. A guide or fictional exercise does not establish an accepted collection or a sale.
