Specialty pipeline transfer records for AI unit checks
A quantity can look plausible and still use a different measurement basis from the adjoining record.
NAICS 486990 · All Other Pipeline Transportation
A quantity can look plausible and still use a different measurement basis from the adjoining record. Census places pipelines outside crude, refined petroleum and natural gas in this category. PHMSA provides public operator reporting context. A specialty operator can build an offline unit-reconciliation exercise without publishing any asset or process details. Create two synthetic transfer forms. Give one a quantity in mass units and another a volume with the basis missing. Provide a verified comparison only for a pair with matching bases. Ask the assistant which observations can be compared and what a reviewer needs to know for the other pair. Include separate IDs and document versions. Do not ask the model to derive an operating value.
Do not include real capacities, line or site details, pressures, actual volumes, credentials, or operating procedures. Use obviously fictitious values and let a qualified reviewer verify the exercise.

Numerically matching transfer quantities can still have incompatible bases
A detached unit-check fixture uses fictional transfers and arbitrary quantities. It contains no actual commodity, capacity, line, pressure, operating value or system connection.
| Record | Source | What it records |
|---|---|---|
| SPU1 | Transfer A pair | Observation A1=10 practice mass units, observation A2=12 practice mass units. Same stated period and basis, exact transfer A references. |
| SPU2 | Transfer B pair | B1=10 mass units; B2=10 volume units, volume reference basis missing. No conversion or equivalence supplied. |
| SPU3 | Version note | B2 is a newer document but explicitly a different quantity type, not an approved replacement of B1. Similar numbers are incidental. |
Question for the model
Which numerical difference can be reported on a shared basis, and can B's equal numbers establish agreement?
Show the reference answer and checks
SPU1 supports a two-practice-mass-unit difference for transfer A under its explicitly matched period and basis, without explaining why it differs. SPU2 compares mass with an incompletely defined volume, so equal numerals do not establish agreement. SPU3's newer date does not create equivalence or replacement. Request the missing measurement basis and authorized comparison rule rather than derive a process conversion or operating value from plausible-looking quantities.
- Comparing equal numerals across mass and volume as equivalent measurements.
- Treating a newer document as a replacement when its quantity type and scope differ.
Fields to preserve
- Transfer and observation version
- Defines the pair.
- Quantity type, unit and reference basis
- Supports comparability.
- Replacement scope and missing conversion
- Limits arithmetic.
Test another case
Change A2's period while retaining mass units. Require a new period mismatch rather than assume same-unit values are always comparable.
Use specialist-reviewed artificial records. Exclude all asset and process details; no model output controls an actual transfer.
Discuss a contribution
Describe the sources you control, the task they could support and what has already been checked. Use the existing-data assessment for an archive or the collection brief for a new recording project. The contributor agreement defines Fiund’s licensing authority and compensation. A guide or fictional exercise does not establish an accepted collection or a sale.
