NAICS 337920 · Blind and Shade Manufacturing

CPSC's window-covering guidance includes product and order identification. An original shade-manufacturer exercise can distinguish the measured opening from the finished product dimensions specified in the order. CPSC product-and-order context

Create fictional opening measurements, an order sheet and a cut-ticket register. State the exercise's dimension rule explicitly. Ask which finished-width entry answers the selected order. Include a raw opening width, an outside-mount order with a different stated rule and a ticket missing its unit. The key should preserve the rule, mount description and missing unit separately.

Annotate opening, order, mount description, measurement basis, unit, rule version and finished-width field. Evaluate with another table layout and unit convention. Score opening width treated as finished width, the wrong stated rule used and an unknown unit guessed independently. Include one complete example with a reproducible calculation from cited inputs.

Use self-authored records and paper diagrams without cord mechanisms or installation instructions. Customer addresses and room images, licensed designs, supplier manuals and outside reports require appropriate authority. A licensing brief should identify the dimension-extraction task and qualified key. Establish buyer acceptance before commercial preparation or capture. The exercise makes no fit, cord-safety or product-compliance determination for an actual window covering.

Opening width and finished width belong in separate fields

A fictional shade order includes an explicit toy deduction. It does not describe real fitting or installation.

Fictional records supplied to the evaluator
RecordSourceWhat it records
1Opening sheetMock opening A width 120 cm.
2Order ruleFor this order only, finished width is opening width minus 2 cm.
3Cut ticketOpening A, finished width 120 cm.

Question for the model

What mismatch should the reviewer flag?

Show the reference answer and checks

Record 2 calls for 118 cm finished width from the 120 cm opening in record 1. The ticket in record 3 repeats opening width in the finished field, 2 cm above this toy target. Preserve both dimensions and the order-specific deduction.

  • Copying opening width to a finished dimension
  • Applying this fictional deduction as a universal rule

Fields to preserve

opening_width
Stores the source dimension
order_deduction
Documents the stated transform
finished_width
Records the target and ticket value distinctly

Test another case

Provide an order whose finished width is explicitly specified; do not apply a second deduction.

No real window measurements, fitting rules, customer data or installation instructions.

Discuss a contribution

Describe the sources you control, the task they could support and what has already been checked. Use the existing-data assessment for an archive or the collection brief for a new recording project. The contributor agreement defines Fiund’s licensing authority and compensation. A guide or fictional exercise does not establish an accepted collection or a sale.
