Gold and silver assay revision records for AI

A revised certificate can change a field for one specimen without replacing all results in the batch.

A revised certificate can change a field for one specimen without replacing all results in the batch. USGS geochemical quality guidance provides context for method and sample provenance. A producer can build a fictional review task with separate specimen and certificate aliases. USGS geochemical data quality primer

Create a dummy certificate with two entries and a verified amendment for one. Give another result a similar alias but a different element or unit. Ask which number is current for the specified practice sample and which source justifies it. Include one unconfirmed correction. Keep the task about records, with no valuation or extraction analysis.

Keep exact exploration locations, actual assay figures, customer details, contracts, reserve information and proprietary methods out. Do not reproduce lab documents without permission.

Describe a fictional assay review

Original Fiund exercise

An assay amendment changes only the entry it names

This fictional certificate pack contains gold and silver fields, a valid one-entry amendment and an unconfirmed message. Values are arbitrary and must not be used for valuation.

Fictional records supplied to the evaluator
RecordSourceWhat it records
PA1Certificate C-20Specimen A7: gold 2 units, silver 8 units. Specimen A8: gold 3 units.
PA2Authorized amendment C-20-AReplace only A7 gold with 2.4 units. All other C-20 fields unchanged.
PA3Unconfirmed correction messageAlias A7-S: silver 9 percent. Sender does not establish a link to C-20 or authorize replacement.

Question for the model

What are the current gold and silver entries for A7, and what changes, if any, are supported for A8?

Show the reference answer and checks

PA2 changes A7's gold entry to 2.4 units and explicitly leaves the other C-20 fields unchanged. A7 silver therefore remains 8 units under PA1, and A8 gold remains 3 units. PA3 has an unverified alias, a different unit and no authorized supersession link. It cannot replace A7 silver or any A8 entry.

  • Replacing the entire certificate with a one-entry amendment.
  • Treating the unconfirmed 9 percent message as a compatible silver correction.

Fields to preserve

Certificate and specimen IDs
Identifies the entry to which an amendment applies.
Element and unit
Prevents gold and silver or unlike units from being conflated.
Amendment scope
Records exactly which fields are superseded.
Authorization evidence
Distinguishes a proposed correction from an accepted revision.

Test another case

Issue a later authorized amendment correcting A8's identifier while leaving its value unchanged. The evaluator should recognize a provenance correction without counting a second specimen or changing A7.

Do not reproduce laboratory certificates or share actual assay values, exploration locations, reserves or commercial terms. This is a documentary revision exercise only.

Describe the sources you control, the task they could support and what has already been checked. Use the existing-data assessment for an archive or the collection brief for a new recording project.
