NAICS 324199 · All Other Petroleum and Coal Products Manufacturing

This miscellaneous industry includes several product types, so a useful data proposal should name its exact material and decision. The Census manual provides the category scope. An original petroleum-wax exercise can focus on identity and source-document matching. Census petroleum and coal product scope

Write fictional wax product cards, a blend ledger and dispatch labels. Give two variants similar appearance and different internal identifiers. Ask an assistant which card supports each dispatch and which source is missing for a returned quantity. Include a supplier information sheet for the product family beside a batch-specific report. The review key should preserve the difference between general product context and evidence concerning the selected lot.

Label material form, variant, batch, returned material and source scope. Hold out an unfamiliar naming scheme for evaluation. Score family information used as lot evidence, invented return ancestry and wrong-variant matches separately. A photograph can show appearance while leaving composition and test properties dependent on their actual records.

Use original tables and harmless props. Real blend recipes, supplier contracts and laboratory documents need source-specific permission. Describe the precise identity task, evidence map and checked examples to prospective buyers. An accepted brief should determine whether further work needs historical documents, authorized new capture or another agreed source.

Original Fiund exercise

Same trade alias, different wax product

An invented wax ledger lists two products using one generic sales nickname.

Fictional records supplied to the evaluator
RecordSourceWhat it records
1Product cardsWax A17 is block form; wax A71 is pellet form. Both use nickname Clear.
2Blend ledgerLot L3 logged as A71.
3Dispatch labelL3, nickname Clear, carton art says block.

Question for the model

Which identity does the ledger support, and what needs reconciliation?

Show the reference answer and checks

The lot ledger identifies L3 as A71; record 1 maps A71 to pellet form. Record 3's block descriptor conflicts with that mapping, and the shared nickname Clear cannot resolve it. Flag the form conflict and request independent identity evidence before using the dispatch label.

  • Joining on nickname alone
  • Treating a printed form descriptor as physical inspection

Fields to preserve

canonical_product_id
Disambiguates shared aliases
form_descriptor
Records a material form separately
label_conflict
Retains discrepancies for review

Test another case

Provide a renamed product whose canonical ID remains stable; track alias validity dates without splitting lot lineage.

No real wax formulations, blend settings, plant data or product-use claims.

Discuss a contribution

Describe the sources you control, the task they could support and what has already been checked. Use the existing-data assessment for an archive or the collection brief for a new recording project. The contributor agreement defines Fiund’s licensing authority and compensation. A guide or fictional exercise does not establish an accepted collection or a sale.
