Payroll provider time correction and processing evidence for AI
A payroll provider receives corrections from employers and keeps separate evidence of whether those changes were accepted and processed.
NAICS 541214 · Payroll Services
A payroll provider receives corrections from employers and keeps separate evidence of whether those changes were accepted and processed. Federal rules describe wage and hours recordkeeping for employees within the rule’s scope. An original example can test period matching without accessing a real payroll account. Federal FLSA recordkeeping requirements
Create two fictional pay periods, a time correction sent after cutoff and an approved processing event tied to just one period. Ask which record changed, whether the correction was accepted and whether payment evidence is available. Add one reused reference number to test matching on both period and adjustment ID.
Exclude employee identities, wage histories, employer data and bank records. Use your own forms and keep calculations about employment or pay obligations outside the exercise.
Describe a fictional payroll processing sample
Original Fiund exercise
A correction reference reused in another period does not establish processing of this one
Two fictional payroll periods have original administrative correction records. No employee, wage, employer, bank or actual pay-obligation data is included.
| Record | Source | What it records |
|---|---|---|
| PY1 | Practice period P1 | Correction reference J1 sent after its cutoff; receipt confirms arrival only. Acceptance pending. |
| PY2 | Practice period P2 | Separate J1 accepted and processing event PR2 explicitly names P2/J1. |
| PY3 | Payment evidence inventory | No payment confirmation for either period. A generic dashboard says corrections processed without a P1 reference. |
Question for the model
Which correction has acceptance and processing evidence, and does the reused J1 or dashboard establish P1 processing or payment?
Show the reference answer and checks
PY2 explicitly supports acceptance and processing for P2/J1. PY1's P1/J1 has receipt only and remains pending acceptance despite sharing the short reference. PY3's generic dashboard cannot supply a P1 link, and no payment confirmation exists for either period. Report received, accepted, processed and paid as separate evidence states without inferring a payroll obligation or actual transfer.
- Joining corrections on J1 alone while dropping pay-period identity.
- Treating receipt or processing as evidence that a payment was made.
Fields to preserve
- Period-plus-correction key
- Disambiguates reused references.
- Cutoff and arrival event
- Preserves timing context without assuming acceptance.
- Acceptance, processing and payment sources
- Keeps different stages independently supported.
Test another case
Accept P1/J1 but provide no processing event. Require the model to update that stage only rather than copying P2's PR2.
Use original forms and fictional references. Exclude identities, wages, employers and bank records; no payroll action is performed.
Discuss a contribution
Describe the sources you control, the task they could support and what has already been checked. Use the existing-data assessment for an archive or the collection brief for a new recording project. The contributor agreement defines Fiund’s licensing authority and compensation. A guide or fictional exercise does not establish an accepted collection or a sale.
