Metal fitting data for AI branch and orientation evidence
Other metal valves and pipe fittings have a defined Census scope.
NAICS 332919 · Other Metal Valve and Pipe Fitting Manufacturing
Other metal valves and pipe fittings have a defined Census scope. An original branch-fitting exercise can focus on the reference direction and feature identity shown in an issued drawing. Census metal-fitting scope
Create a fictional fitting-shaped paper prop with three labeled ends and one asymmetric reference marker. Supply a drawing and specimen register. Ask which visible end answers the selected callout. Include a rotated view and another specimen with the same outer silhouette but a different identifier. The key should follow the marker and register before accepting the association.
Annotate specimen, branch, marker, reference side, drawing revision and view. Hold out a new branch arrangement for evaluation. Score rotational ambiguity ignored, silhouette used as identity and a callout transferred across revisions independently. The exercise should supply no installation or operating instruction and make no actual performance determination.
Use original geometry and inert materials. Customer designs, licensed specifications, proprietary manufacturing records and outside reports require appropriate authority. Describe the view-mapping task and qualified reviewer key in the licensing brief. Establish buyer requirements before preparing a commercial archive or commissioning further capture.

A branch location relative to the reference flat
An original paper fitting has a square mark and three labeled openings. The exercise evaluates object geometry only.
| Record | Source | What it records |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Drawing | With square up and A toward viewer, branch C points right. |
| 2 | Bench photo | Square up and A toward viewer; tag C on left. |
| 3 | Rear photo | C appears right from the other end; A faces away. |
Question for the model
Which view should determine the comparison and why?
Show the reference answer and checks
Use record 2 because it satisfies both orientation constraints in record 1. It shows C on the opposite side. Record 3 looks rightward but uses the rear perspective, so its screen position cannot be used to erase the reference-view discrepancy.
- Comparing left and right across opposite views
- Ignoring the named opening that faces the camera
Fields to preserve
- reference_flat
- Anchors roll orientation
- viewed_end
- Distinguishes front from rear
- branch_direction
- Stores part-relative rather than pixel direction
Test another case
Use a view where square is up but A is unidentifiable; withhold a handedness conclusion.
No pressure or service guidance, actual branch specifications, connections or installation.
Discuss a contribution
Describe the sources you control, the task they could support and what has already been checked. Use the existing-data assessment for an archive or the collection brief for a new recording project. The contributor agreement defines Fiund’s licensing authority and compensation. A guide or fictional exercise does not establish an accepted collection or a sale.
