Drywall and insulation pre-close evidence for AI
Once a wall is closed, a finish photo cannot show what was installed behind it.
NAICS 238310 · Drywall and Insulation Contractors
Once a wall is closed, a finish photo cannot show what was installed behind it. DOE publishes building education on drywall air sealing and insulation. A contractor can use a mock wall section to test whether an assistant identifies which cavity a pre-close observation describes. DOE drywall and air sealing reference · DOE insulation guide
Use two tabletop cavity sections with dummy labels. Photograph one before and after cover. Include a similar pre-close image from the other without a matching label. Ask what is visible for each cavity and what still requires review. The grading key should distinguish identity, visibility, and sequence.
Use approved training props and synthetic locations. Keep actual building designs, occupant information, proprietary details and installation decisions outside the exercise.
Describe a pre-close image sample
Original Fiund exercise
A closed-wall photo cannot recover a missing pre-close view
Two tabletop cavity props, C-A and C-B, are photographed before or after paper covers are fitted. The task is identity and visibility tracking, with no assessment of code compliance.
| Record | Source | What it records |
|---|---|---|
| DW1 | Labeled pre-close image | C-A label readable; blue practice insert visible inside the cavity. |
| DW2 | Labeled post-close image | C-A label readable; opaque cover hides the insert. |
| DW3 | Unassigned pre-close image | A blue insert is visible, but cavity label is cropped. C-B has a post-close photo only. |
Question for the model
Which cavity has an identified pre-close observation of the blue insert, and can the unassigned image establish C-B's concealed contents?
Show the reference answer and checks
DW1 provides an identified pre-close observation of a blue insert in C-A. DW2 shows C-A after cover without independently showing its concealed contents. DW3 lacks the identity link needed to assign it to C-B; similarity is insufficient. C-B's covered view therefore does not establish the insert behind it. Preserve the difference between observed earlier, visible now and unresolved identity.
- Describing concealed contents as currently visible in a post-close image.
- Assigning the only unassigned pre-close image to C-B by elimination.
Fields to preserve
- Cavity identity and label visibility
- Controls attribution before comparing appearances.
- Capture stage and sequence
- Separates pre-close from post-close evidence.
- Observed versus concealed region
- Prevents an unseen condition from becoming a visible fact.
Test another case
Supply a valid image manifest linking DW3 to C-A rather than C-B. Require the answer to retain C-B's evidence gap despite the additional image.
Use approved training props and fictional locations. Do not include occupied buildings, proprietary wall details, client plans or actual installation decisions.
