FTC publishes funeral-product disclosure guidance for its stated scope. A manufacturer can define an original document task that preserves the material and component descriptions in its own product records. FTC funeral-product context
Create fictional product cards, a component list and neutral illustrations. Give the exterior finish and interior lining separate references. Ask which declarations support the selected variant. Include a material statement covering only one component and an obsolete product card with a similar model name. The key should retain component scope and effective version.
Annotate variant, exterior, lining, declared material, source owner and record revision. Hold out a new card layout for evaluation. Score an exterior appearance used as proof of underlying construction, one component statement applied to the whole article and the old card selected independently. Include a complete supported case alongside missing-evidence examples.
Use original illustrations and invented declarations. Customer information, licensed designs, supplier documents and commissioned artwork require appropriate authority. A licensing brief should identify the scope-reading task and independently checked key, with the applicable business context reviewed by an appropriate specialist. Confirm buyer requirements before preparing commercial archives or authorized capture.

The exterior card does not describe every component
Original neutral illustrations and fictional material declarations contain no personal or funeral records.
| Record | Source | What it records |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Product card | Model C4 lists shell material X. |
| 2 | Component list | C4 includes shell S2, liner L7 and handles H3. |
| 3 | Source declaration | Document D8 covers shell S2 only. |
Question for the model
Where can D8 be cited?
Show the reference answer and checks
D8 applies to the S2 shell in records 2 and 3 and can be linked at that level. It does not identify L7 or H3 materials. Record 1 also scopes its claim to the shell, so do not recast the assembly as entirely material X.
- Applying the exterior material to the whole product
- Assuming a declaration includes omitted parts
Fields to preserve
- component_role
- Separates shell, liner and hardware
- material_statement_scope
- Limits the evidence
- assembly_id
- Links the component to its product without expanding scope
Test another case
Add an optional handle variant and confirm the shell evidence does not depend on that option.
No funeral records, real products, environmental assertions or consumer advice.
Discuss a contribution
Describe the sources you control, the task they could support and what has already been checked. Use the existing-data assessment for an archive or the collection brief for a new recording project. The contributor agreement defines Fiund’s licensing authority and compensation. A guide or fictional exercise does not establish an accepted collection or a sale.
