Exclusivity
A licence term controlling whether the same data can be licensed to others. Exclusive grants command higher prices; non-exclusive grants let an owner license the same material repeatedly.
Common variants: full exclusivity, category exclusivity that binds only within an industry or use case, and time-limited exclusivity that decays to non-exclusive. An exclusive grant should be priced to cover the owner’s forgone future licences. Buyers ask for it when data is differentiating; owners grant it narrowly, if at all.
Why it matters
Non-exclusive licensing is the structure that lets one archive earn repeatedly.
